After being lost in space, an ape crash-lands back on Earth in a vessel leaking a strange sludge. The substance triggers enormous growth in the ape and also affects a passing Gila monster, turning both creatures into giant threats. As their paths cross again, the two massive beasts clash in a fight for dominance.
