On December 26, 1985, novelist Whitley Strieber wakes from a strange nightmare that he cannot shake. In the days that follow, painful headaches and increasingly erratic behavior alarm his wife and son, who see him changed after an apparent encounter in the mountains. Under hypnosis, Whitley begins to confront the possibility that what he remembers was not a dream.
