In a 19th-century European village, a shy young groom-to-be nervously practices his wedding vows before his arranged ceremony. When he speaks them in the accidental presence of a deceased young woman, she rises from the grave believing he has married her. Whisked into the underworld and bound to the mysterious corpse bride, he leaves his real bride waiting in sorrow in the land of the living.
