In 1977, former real estate developer Tony Kiritsis walks into the office of Richard Hall, president of Meridian Mortgage Company, and takes him hostage. Armed with a sawed-off shotgun rigged by a dead man’s wire from the trigger to his own neck, Tony claims the mortgage banker wronged him and demands $5 million along with a personal apology.
