In 1987, Danielle is known at school as the “Dirty Girl,” a promiscuous teenager who is ready to run away and leave her old life behind. She sets out in search of her long-absent father, joined by Clarke, her closeted gay classmate and unlikely travel companion. With a bag of flour named Joa and a Walkman full of 1980s music, the two head out on the road together.
