Paris, 1964. Alberto Giacometti, the celebrated Swiss painter and sculptor, asks his friend James Lord, an American writer, to sit for a portrait. Giacometti assures him the work will take only two or three hours, perhaps an afternoon at most, but the simple favor draws Lord into the working world of one of the most respected artists of his generation.
