Christchurch, New Zealand, 1979. During a fortnight with his world-weary father, Angus is pulled toward the city’s underground post-punk music scene. Encouraged by his father and supported by his friend Kirsten, he tries to find his place among new sounds and sharp judgments, confronting self-doubt, derision, and a family tragedy as he works up the courage to perform for the first time.
