Overbearing mother Jackie travels across the country to California after her son, Angelo, drops out of college to pursue life as a surfer. Determined to stay close and steer him back onto the path she expected, she struggles to accept his choice. When she meets a surf instructor, Jackie is encouraged to reconsider what support means and to let Angelo follow his own dreams.
