Idealistic but unemployed, engineering graduate Mark Thackeray accepts a temporary teaching job at a high school in London’s East End. In a tough, working-class neighborhood, he faces a classroom of rambunctious white students who are uninterested in school and used to being written off, but whose behavior masks a need for attention, guidance, and care.
