Newly married Elizabeth arrives at the magnificent estate of her husband, Henry, an extremely wealthy and brilliant scientist. He tells her she is free to do anything she pleases in the house, with one strict exception: she must not enter a certain closed room. Their marriage becomes a science fiction variation on the Bluebeard myth, built around a forbidden space and the warning that surrounds it.
