In the near future, private detective David Carmichael is hired by eccentric businessman Marlon Veidt to find his missing daughter. The search leads David into a colony of state-of-the-art robots created by Veidt, where he works with Jane, a highly advanced A.I., to uncover what happened and bring the young woman home.
