Jefferson Pierce is a dedicated father and the principal of a charter high school that gives young people a safe place in a New Orleans neighborhood troubled by gang violence. Already seen as a hero in his community, he also carries a powerful secret: he was once Black Lightning, the original African-American electrical superhero. When danger draws him back, Jefferson must return to action while protecting the life he has built.
