Novelist Hank Moody is trying to keep his life from coming apart in Los Angeles, a city he can barely stand. As he struggles to stay connected to his 13-year-old daughter and remains hung up on his ex-girlfriend Karen, his career is shaped by the same restless honesty and self-destructive behavior that keep causing trouble. Along the way, his addiction to beautiful women only makes the balance harder to hold.
