Season 1 follows Lightning McQueen and his best friend Mater as they leave Radiator Springs for a cross-country drive headed east. With Mater planning to meet up with his sister, the two take to the open road together, trading their usual routine for a trip that carries them far from home and keeps their friendship at the center of the ride.
