In 1896 New York, police commissioner Theodore Roosevelt turns to criminal psychologist Dr. Laszlo Kreizler for help with a disturbing series of murders targeting male prostitutes. Kreizler is joined by newspaper illustrator John Moore and secretary Sara Howard as they pursue a serial killer through a city where modern investigative methods are only beginning to take shape.
