A Cambodian-Filipino doctor travels to the U.S. seeking medical treatment for her ailing son, only to be failed by the system she hoped would save him. Forced into hiding and pushed to the margins, she refuses to give up. Using her intelligence and nerve, she takes work as a cleaning lady for the mob and begins navigating a dangerous world on her own terms.
