In 17th-century Amsterdam, young Nella Oortman enters a new life when she marries a wealthy merchant and moves into his world. Struggling to gain her husband’s affection, she receives a dollhouse as a gift and hires a mysterious local miniaturist to furnish it. But as the tiny, lifelike creations arrive, they begin to eerily foreshadow her fate and point toward dark secrets around her.
